Main tasks of hospitals:

provision of medical care when it is impossible to treat or conduct complex diagnostic tests in an outpatient setting;
provision of medical care if recovery or improvement of the patient’s condition in a hospital can be achieved faster than with outpatient treatment;
providing medical care to patients whose stay at home poses a threat to others (infectious, sexually transmitted diseases, certain types of mental disorders).
