If you know Jose, you know he doesn't like to ask for help. But in this case, he needs support from the community he loves.

 

Since he was young, Jose has gone through a massive personal battle with mental health and severe depression. For those who suffer similarly, you will understand. Some days, it's just impossible to get out of bed and you can never predict when those days may be. For those that have seen the shop closed early or sadly not opened at all... those were the bad days. It's almost impossible to run a successful shop when some days, the depression runs him. He has been lucky, he has had support in his life, great employees, and most importantly the support of the Mestizo community who continue to come for coffee.

 

This past week you may have noticed the shop suddenly and inexplicitly closed. Unfortunately, Jose fell into a deep depression that he could not pull himself out of.

 

Luckily his family and friends rallied around him and he is currently recovering and getting ready to enter an extensive therapy treatment program, that unfortunately, health insurance does not cover.

 

As we started, Jose does not like to ask for help. He does not want to seem weak. He does not want to take advantage of anyone. But at this point, asking for help is a necessity.

 

We are asking for help from the little, beloved community Jose has built on a corner of Little Armenia. Help us help him get the treatment he needs to get healthy and come back to greet you at the shop with a smile and a latte.
